LEARN MORE ABOUT ME
I started my photography involvement back in 1985 when I got a scholarship to study
photography and audio visual production sponsdered by the Bristish Council. Upon coming back I was heavily
involved in video production as Nepal Television just started to operate in early 1986. As I was involved in
freelance video production specializing in documentaries and promotional video, I did not at this time
realize the market and importance of still photography. In the early 90s I soon realized that I need an
alternate to video production. Thus, I tried a advertising agency and later started marketing promotional
and souvenir items which I am still continuing. In late 90s I got my full Nikon SLR kit and started my
transparency collection with mountain and landscape scenery. Later my collection included festival, temples,
people, etc,. From 2000 to 2007 I started my own calendar production which caters mostly to tourists.
Calendars are a great inspiration as one has to always look for new and creative pictures. At this time I
also started bird and nature and wildlife photography. I was not satisfied with bird photos as the lens I
used i.e. Sigma 170-500 f4.5-6.3 with 400 ASA transparencies gave bad results. But with the introduction of
digital SLR in 2005 my interest for bird pictures got big boost. I got my Nikon D70 D-SLR and later Sigma
50-500 f4.5-6.3. At present I have upgraded my camera to Nikon D7100 D-SLR and lenses including Sigma. Most
of my images reflect “naturally Nepal” be it nature, wildlife, culture, festivals or people. From 2006 with
introduction of digital SLR, I got interested in BIRDS because it was challenging and at the same rewarding
especially when you get a good sharp image, be it in portrait or flight.
So in late 2016, I published and wrote my book A POCKET PHOTO GUIDE TO BIRDS OF NEPAL . The highlight of
this book is that it is one of the first photo guide book on birds of Nepal. It is still on sale on some
shops and through my website. Now I would like to highlight the subjects that are in my gallery.
